The Blue Ridge Parkway, encompassing twenty-nine Virginia and North Carolina counties, is so much more than a 469 mile scenic parkway between the Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains National Parks. It is a road trip dripping in magnificence. Plan to spend most of your day being wrapped in the beauty of natural surroundings. It is tourism at its best. In fact, the splendor of the foliage and the grandeur of the wildflowers are captivating enough; however, couple that with the joy of seeing the wildlife – deer, bears, wild turkeys, river otters, majestic birds, turtles, beavers – just to name a few. Simply prepare to be amazed and perhaps you’ll experience the most captivating day imaginable. My husband and I did and we are still feeling inspired from our spectacular experience.
